I Am An Instrument

“I am an instrument”

In our daily lives there will surely be “ups” and “downs” and more so in the practice of our faith. I am no exception as I have lost faith many times but came back stronger each time – we grow in faith so to speak. During one particular period of time when I was down in faith, it was a priest who came to my rescue. He did not summon a great host of angels or anything miraculous of that sort. He simply showed empathy, gave me some good advice, and made me felt welcome. Since then, he has always been there throughout most of the times when my soul was most broken and shattered. He has also been there throughout my most memorable moments. In short, he played a big role in helping me spiritual wise. I remembered one time that after having a chat with him, I thank him and told him how grateful I am to have him in my life. He replied simply, “I am but an instrument. Jesus loves you”. Simple yet powerful, I thought. Perhaps that is what we all need in life, back to basics.

“Laws of attraction”

As we go about our lives, we tend to reason in order to understand better of situations that we are going through. We try to reason who is God and what is He, even scientifically most of the time. Then came the movie “What the Bleep Do We Know!?” with all its explanation of energies and also the book/movie “The Secret”. Out of a sudden, an enlightenment called “Laws Of Attraction” came about. I am not discounting these scientific proven facts but in fact, believe its principles.

For me, I have a profound understanding and explanation of what happens when both Faith and Laws Of Attraction collide.

“Blessing”

I am sure most of us has been told that having a child is a blessing and indeed, it is. Unfortunately, the world tells us otherwise – a child is a burden financial wise we are often told. Of course it will become difficult if we do not plan it well. But in essence, I have never understood how or why it is a blessing to have a child until recently.

You see, every person have their aspirations, desire, wants, and hopes. Ever experience desiring something so bad, that it happens or it materializes? A job that you wanted so badly and eventually got it? A pretty lady that captured your heart and eventually became your wife? A house, a car, a pet, the dream to travel, and many more. I am very sure we all have experienced at least one of these. If you have not, it only means that you have not desired strong enough. The same reason why Jesus said, “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” ~ Mark 11:24. The keyword here is BELIEVE – isn’t that mentioned in “The Secret” as well? See how it has been covered in the scriptures already just to be presented in a different manner?

When you believe (laws of attraction) so much, whatever you ask for materializes (quantum physics).

In between the believe and the material, lies something or some things that are very profound and interesting. There are the instruments and they come in many forms. Sometimes, we even call them angels. Perhaps you are securing a loan for a brand new car and the bank officer was really helpful or the interviewer has found you favourable for the job since the first interview. The perfect ring (not Frodo’s) appeared just when you decided to propose.

None of these could have happen if you have not given much thought to them. Thought translates into energies and materializes.

The interesting part is, the instruments can also be apart of the bigger picture. Being an instrument have its blessings too.

“Blessed through another person”

Case in point, when you have a child, and we all know that a child have many needs. If you look back to the times when the child was born, you will notice and realize how he/she has been blessed because you were able to provide him/her all that he/she needed. You see, in actual fact, the child attracts what he/she needs, you became the instrument to materialize all that was needed. Now, how does that make us blessed? In the process of obtaining the resources needed for the child, many opportunities may have came along and made it possible for ourselves to have a comfortable life.

In a week’s time, I will be materializing a long time dream of the person who have brought me into this world – my mother. Looking at the entire event unfolding, I just cannot believe that it is actually happening. I do not know what in the world that I have done to be able to do this. I can only believe that it was her strong desire to have her dream materialize and I?

I am but an instrument…

I shall leave you with a question – Have you been a blessing to someone else today by being an instrument to their success/happiness?

The Epiphany: Jesus, King Herod, The Magi, & Thinking Out of the Box

Some may take what I am about to write as blasphemy but in all seriousness, my mind has been going hyper-drive whenever life and religious practices collide. Here’s a post that I hope to pen down whatever that went through my mind this morning.

As usual, the sermon this morning was awesome. I knew where the priest was going and agreed with him totally. At the same time, my mind wandered off towards a different direction.

So I wrote a shorter version of my thoughts as part of my facebook status:

King Herod became insecure of losing his worldly possessions and power at the sound of Jesus’ title “The Infant KING“. But did Jesus really wanted to replace Herod or take away Herod’s worldly possessions? Far from that really…

Even if offered all the riches of the world, Jesus will decline I am sure because His is a heavenly kingdom. If only Herod seek His heavenly wisdom perhaps his kingdom will grow even larger and vastly. And his people will come to love him more when he practices love and compassion just like how Jesus is compassion towards everyone he meets.

What about us? Do we shun away just because we assume that to follow the light means we have to give up our worldly treasures and beliefs? It is us who assume we must sacrifice various things but are these what He demands or desires?

Another case in point, the traffic after mass today was really bad because Sunday School has started. Sadly, our church does not have its own parking facility. The church have always been asking its faithful to live modestly and at times in poverty. Law of attraction is enough to make one poor. In my opinion, that will not work. The church next to ours have a huge parking facility that it so huge and have so much room to grow. That is forward thinking. The more convenience provided, the more people will be drawn to the church and naturally, the church will grow financially. God will provide and grows His church so when we limit ourselves, so it will be the same with our resources. We should start thinking that God wants us all to prosper and be rich in all aspects. We should be proud of His blessings. Our rich values and blessings should act as testimonies that He blesses us abundantly.

Do we assume God wants us to live under limiting conditions or He desires us to grow? That is totally up to how we think in or out of the box…

Let’s be wise men….

And as random as my mind is, my thoughts wandered to the topic of Bullying.

Bullying comes in a different form but the most condemned as of late are the bullying that happens in schools and teenage peer pressure. Rallying a group of self-righteous religious bigots to condemn those against their beliefs is also a form of bullying. This is the same reason why some churches are driving people away instead of drawing more people to themselves.

This quick to judge mentality is totally against Jesus’ call to “Love Your Neighbour As Yourself”. Some like to label others as drunkards, homosexuals, abortionist, adulterers, liars, fornicators, thieves, atheists, witches, and idolaters. They are told that hell awaits them just like how the picture below suggests while quoting the bible. We need to stop being hypocrites and put on a “holier than thou” front.

I personally think that God will not say all these means things to any of His creation. He is so good that there is no room for hate or any negativity. He is compassionate and filled with LOVE. He stretches out His hands to everyone regardless of his/her faith, race, colour, beliefs, sexual orientation, and whatever one can think of that makes us different or indifferent.

Every time if you ever have any bad thought that you think is from God, please stop or pause to re-calibrate your mind to a positive one as God will never will anything bad on anyone.

In this week’s bulletin, there is a very good article about LOVE and allow me to quote a couple of sentences that I found very meaningful, “LOVE is the free self-giving of the heart…In every friendship there is LOVE…”.

Happy New Year 2015

With a few fart sounding fireworks, we ushered in the new year, very much to my dismay unfortunately. I believe in both good and bad energies. That is the reason why I was hoping for a more vibrant celebration. Unfortunately, after a number of disasters, tragedies and unfortunate events, we are reminded to celebrate moderately as a sign of respect to those who have perished. That has been happening for quite a few years as far as I can remember. Since the first time we welcome a new year in moderation, tragedies have been happening one after another and it only gets worse each time.

If law of attraction is at play, I strongly believe that we as a nation have attracted all these negativity throughout the years.

In order for us to attract more positivity in life, I strongly believe that we have to be positive and alive.

Whenever I am seated on an air plane, I cannot help but to think about the worst during take-off. All the what ifs usually goes through my mind. During one of the many plane take-off in 2014, I actually asked myself how many people on the flight was having the same thought as me. That helped me turn off the negative thought immediately. Just imagine that everyone on board was thinking about the plane crashing, what would all those thought energies translate to? Possibly a disaster.

As I live through to celebrate another New Year’s Day, I look back through the 12 months of 2014 to remember all the successes, happiness, and wonderful things that has taken place. I cannot help but to be very grateful how 2014 has helped me grow as a person in all aspects of my life be it at work and as well as my personal life.

I am thankful that I have been very lucky to live through over 26 flights throughout 2014, the beautiful places that I was able to visit, good health, amazing friends, and much more.

I wish the best for all my friends, family, and even you who is reading this post at this moment an excellent 2015. May all your dreams materialize and much growth in all aspect of your life. May you also be quick to discard all the negativities and focus only on everything positive.

Let’s wish for a better world and emit positive thoughts/energies so when they are combined, our world will eventually be a better place.

Happy New Year 2015!
